Summary

Loved this book! I enjoyed the fairy tales and old stories / parables and the analysis of each。 Really well done。

Such an insightful read。 Looking at old folklore tales from different communities from the view point of Jungian psychology。 Each character could relate to an event or an aspect of the psyche, with explanations given on how to deal with the wounds that came with the stories shared and those that happen within our own lives。 "There is alot to be said for pinning things to the earth so they don't follow us around。 There is alot to be said for laying them to rest''Everyone should read and let wild Such an insightful read。 Looking at old folklore tales from different communities from the view point of Jungian psychology。 Each character could relate to an event or an aspect of the psyche, with explanations given on how to deal with the wounds that came with the stories shared and those that happen within our own lives。 "There is alot to be said for pinning things to the earth so they don't follow us around。 There is alot to be said for laying them to rest''Everyone should read and let wild women in! 。。。more

I can certainly understand why this book lives on so many women's Top 5 List。 I waivered throughout the course of this book because I haven't read anything quite like it before and was a little baffled at times by its presentation; it wasn't until I was 3 pages from the ending where Dr。 Estes outlines that she approached the narrative with a combination of her traditional storyteller approach and academic psychotherapy。 It wasn't the literature itself that was teasing my brain, it was the subtle I can certainly understand why this book lives on so many women's Top 5 List。 I waivered throughout the course of this book because I haven't read anything quite like it before and was a little baffled at times by its presentation; it wasn't until I was 3 pages from the ending where Dr。 Estes outlines that she approached the narrative with a combination of her traditional storyteller approach and academic psychotherapy。 It wasn't the literature itself that was teasing my brain, it was the subtle psychotherapy that picked at belief systems, forced introspection, and rattled my own cage。 I feel like this is something I'm going to continuously come back to in various cycles of my life because it's SO much to absorb (too much to absorb) in one "sitting", and you'll never be the same woman twice when you approach it (and if you are, it will probably spur some serious change)。 I strongly recommend any woman read this。"We are using the voices of our minds, our lives, and our souls to call back intuition, imagination; to call back the Wild Woman。 And she comes。Women cannot get away from this。 If there is to be change, we are it。 We carry La Que Sabe, the One Who Knows。" 。。。more

This was a re-read for me as I first discovered the book when published in the early l990s。 I heard the author speak then in Seattle, and have a signed copy。 Occasionally, I return to review various parts as I did this time。 The book is designed around ancient tales and what they can teach us as women。 For this read, I centered around creativity such as in Chapter 10, seeing that as a vital part of a woman's existence, equating it to the flow of a river。 I looked again at the story of "The Littl This was a re-read for me as I first discovered the book when published in the early l990s。 I heard the author speak then in Seattle, and have a signed copy。 Occasionally, I return to review various parts as I did this time。 The book is designed around ancient tales and what they can teach us as women。 For this read, I centered around creativity such as in Chapter 10, seeing that as a vital part of a woman's existence, equating it to the flow of a river。 I looked again at the story of "The Little Match Girl" and the choices she makes。 I also studied Chapter 2 and the tale of Bluebeard as an example of a predator。 Most of the stories evoke strong feelings in me of what happens when a woman tries to fit herself into the limits of parameters made by others instead of following the guidance of intuition and learning to follow those suggested markers。 。。。more

As a woman it made me connect and bring things to the surface that I had either suppressed or forgotten。 Reminded me feelings, thoughts and deep rooted instincts。 Also helped me realise a lot of things that I had ignored or didn't pay much attention initially, and rediscover some of my strength。 As a woman it made me connect and bring things to the surface that I had either suppressed or forgotten。 Reminded me feelings, thoughts and deep rooted instincts。 Also helped me realise a lot of things that I had ignored or didn't pay much attention initially, and rediscover some of my strength。 。。。more

I read 10% of it and I knew it was exactly what I didn't want it to be, and I was soooo excited for this book and I was so sad when it was just crap, starting off alot about motherhood etc some a feminist that is choosing not to have children this just felt like a dig, so I stopped reading。 Its wrote very selfishly which I don't think feminism is about at all, very very disappointed, and it was Emma Roberts who recommended this book to the world。 I seen one review to check out Goddesses by Campb I read 10% of it and I knew it was exactly what I didn't want it to be, and I was soooo excited for this book and I was so sad when it was just crap, starting off alot about motherhood etc some a feminist that is choosing not to have children this just felt like a dig, so I stopped reading。 Its wrote very selfishly which I don't think feminism is about at all, very very disappointed, and it was Emma Roberts who recommended this book to the world。 I seen one review to check out Goddesses by Campbell or Goddesses in Everywoman and thats what I'm going to do now, hopefully will be whatbi actually wanted to read。 。。。more
